Elite FAQs

  • Who runs SPFH Elite?

Our club has a major advantage to college level coaches & players because it is run by a college coach. CNU Field Hockey's Head Coach, Carrie Moura.  She has over 20 years of collegiate coaching experience.

Our club director, is Yaphet Melendez. Coach Yaphet is a former National Player from Puerto Rico. Yaphet joined SPFH Fall of 2020 integrating in fitness, dynamic curricilum, and advanced game concepts.

  • At what age do you start club?

Our club has all 5 age divisions, starting with U10, meaning under 10 years of age. From ages 7-18, our club is designed to develop athletes until graduation for the college level.

  • Where is training?

SPFH trains at a few sites.

For outdoor, we use various sites to prepare for tournaments including Warhill, CNU, and the Regional Training Center in VB.

Our indoor training center is in Yorktown, at Coastal Community Church in Kiln Creek.

  • What events do you attend as a club?

Elite members will compete in tournaments both local and national. Below is the list of our high competition events that we attend.

    • USAFH National Indoor Tournament
    • USAFH National Indoor Festival
    • USAFH Bash at the Beach
    • Shooting Star Thanksgiving
    • Shooting Star Easter
    • Limelight Showcase

  • How do I become part of club?

Club members are either nominated or tryout.

Nominations occur through our programming and are taken from Advanced Training from an SPFH Coach or from a school coach.

If there are openings in a certain age group, players can be invited to a practice for a tryout.

  • What makes our club different?

Aside from being run by a current college coach, a consistent execution of an advanced curriulum by a National Team Player, and a distinguished coaching staff...we keep our club numbers limited to foster a high level team environment.
